From small starts …
Big things can grow

LYIT Gardening club was founded in 2011.
Membership is open to all registered students and to staff at LYIT

The aims of the club are

  • To create a club where students who share an interest in gardening can meet and make new friends
  • To increase gardening knowledge and skill among members.
  • To encourage sharing of tips, knowledge and resources.
  • To develop greater awareness of design, environmental, and health and safety issues in the garden.
  • To become involved in voluntary and civic engagement activities in which gardening skills can be put to use
  • To contribute, where possible, to curricular activities,
  • To encourage healthy outdoor exercise and positive mental health.

The current organising officers are:

Subject to membership and standard SU regulations, some funding will be available via the SU Clubs & Societies funding. Members will provide co-funding via

  • Plant and seed exchanges.
  • Plant Sales.
  • Sponsorship
  • Voluntary Labour
  • Civic engagement projects
  • Contributions towards cost of any outing and garden visits
